Bridges

"The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn." -- David Russell Bridges are a wonderful image -- they connect things, places and people. Spanning the gap that exists is the purpose of a bridge. There is a folk song from the 80's by Don Eaton that says, "true religions are those that build bridges instead of walls", and I couldn't agree more. Yet, in the ebb and flow of cultures, religion, and politic, we seem to be in a time when we are more interested in building walls instead of bridges, or, at least, the most vocal and loudest of voices seem to be voicing that type of mantra. The pendulum will swing the other way someday and the idea of building bridges will again be seen as important, then, hopefully humanity will make another small step forward. In the meantime, massage your own mind and ask if what you do in life builds more bridges than walls.
